Earthquake Preparation Information

 At this time, there have not been any aftershocks to this morning’s 3.6 magnitude earthquake reported yet.  However, in light of the fact that aftershocks remain a possibility, DC HSEMA wishes to remind citizens of the following protective actions that should be taken if another earthquake is felt:

During an earthquake if you are:

Indoors:

  • Take cover under a desk, table, or bench.  If none is available, use an inside wall or doorway.
  • Stay away from windows, outside doors, walls, and anything that could shatter or fall on you.
  • If you’re sleeping, stay in bed and cover your head with a pillow. If your bed is under a heavy light fixture or you have a large mirror or painting over your headboard, move to the nearest safe place.
  • Stay inside until the shaking stops. Most injuries during an earthquake occur when people enter or exit a structure.

 Outdoors:

  • Stay there and move away from buildings, streetlights, and overhead utility wires.

  In a Motor Vehicle:

  • Stop as quickly as safety permits and stay in the vehicle. Avoid stopping near or under buildings, trees, overpasses, and utility wires.
  • Proceed cautiously once the earthquake has stopped, watching for road and bridge damage.

We are hitting the road on September 11, 2010 - totally old school style - and heading to the "Annual King's Dominion Gay & Lesbian Night" hosted by Brother, Help Thyself Inc. - a community based organization that provides financial and other support to non-profit organizations serving the GLBTQ and HIV/AIDS community in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metro area. This night benefits Brother, Help Thyself Inc. and is their biggest fundraiser each year.

While other King's Dominion guests are leaving the park, we will be entering to enjoy a night of fun-filled festivities. In addition to the rides and attractions at King's Dominion, there will be a party (within the park) on International Street.

The park hours for this event are: 8p-1a. We will be departing promptly at 5p from the parking lot of Uno's at the Capital Blvd in Largo, MD. The bus will return around 3:30a.

The cost is: $66 (which includes park ticket and bus accommodation with complimentary beverages and snacks). Food and drinks are allowed on the bus.

Come meet new women, make new friends, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
